J went wedding dress shopping with me today. A little unconventional, yes... but hey- we aren't really your "do it by the rules" kind of couple either. Since the wedding isnt for another year and half, my thought process is typically- "eh... we have plenty of time."
We ran over the Garden Ridge to look at some home decorating stuff, and on the way out- decided to stop by David's Bridal since it was next door. After going through their catalog, I became giddy. I think it was probably the first wedding related thing I've done that I got excited about. In essence, I really just wanted to get an idea of what styles I tended to gravitate towards, and what kind of styles tended to flatter me best. I also want J to LOVE the dress Im in too. Yea, yea, yea.... he'll love me in a burlap sack if I showed up in one, I know, but totally not the point. I read a poll somewhere that a percentage of groom's were disappointed in their bride's dress selection after all the hype that goes into hiding the dress for the big reveal, and I for one... DO NOT want that to happen. Besides... is he really going to remember one dress from another dress a year and half from now? No, I didnt think so. LoL!
I've learned two things from this trip: 1. Wear decent undergarments. Who knew that the sales person would be in that dressing room all up in your goods. And 2. Although I loved having J there, and getting his opinion, I think I'll save all future dress shopping for my girls. Its just one of those bonding moments you get to share with them.
Funny story. Another girl was there with her mother, and sister trying on wedding dresses. The sister, who is very opinionated by the way, decided to give us her two sense on how J should not be with me looking at dresses.
